Always on our mind,
From when your young,
Till the date comes,
What color will it be,
What flowers,
Where will it be,
Does this match,
And most importantly who will be with you,
But what if it never comes,
What if you never find that perfect person,
But our those our worries,
Or societies?
Is it our wedding,
Or societies?
Our those our traditions or histories.

The Catcher in the Rye
I think that Holden wants to be a Catcher in the rye because he sees how society is and he wants to stop it, it's more then saving the children and making sure they don't end up like Allie, its the fact that he doesn't want them to conform to society and the ways it's running, and I think the message he's trying to get across is that the children are our future and that we can't just let them fall of off the cliff and become phony like all he other people he came across while in the real world. The children he's trying to save aren't just young children they are like high schoolers, he saw that high school is all phony and that when we graduate we don't know what the world is like, I mean look at Holden when he went to the real world he didn't know what to do, he didn't know how to react to all the events that occurred. So if someone not like Holden went out there they would be like everyone else because they don't know who they are themselves.

I swear I'm a mad man
“I swear to God I’m a madman,” is a quote that stuck out to me in chapters 16-18 because he admits that he's wrong and crazy and that his thoughts really are ridiculous. Thats not because holden is weird but because he doesn't wanna conform to society. But I can't hold that against home because if he knows he's crazy he can at least no act like it anymore but he continues and that shows that he's not afraid to be true to himself. We also see he's crazy when he's talking to Sally about going away and living in a cabin, and although he could of just got up and did that one day he didn't because he's need to find someone to take and see his thoughts the same way as him. He's sad though when she turns him down not breaches she denied him but she pretty much said that his thoughts are ridiculously stupid.

Relating Holden
When reading this quote I think of Holden right away. When I read I see that he is different from everyone else and that he has his own thoughts. When he calls people phony he's calling them fake or that they are trying to hard to be something they are not. Holden left his school where everyone was alike in ways, and when he branched off into the city he saw a different life that schools couldn't prepare him for. When he came across the prostitute or just encountering other people, he saw that they are different and phony. He would rather die knowing that the way he was living was better then living another life where he's living just to please or get around in the world. He is living to die. Instead of a quote I chose to connect it to a scene that happened in a book we read in class, The absolute true diary of a part time Indian. When Arnold attended his grandmothers funeral everyone around him started crying but he just stood there emotionless, when first reading this I questioned why he wasn't crying or anything because as a society we expect people to cry during sad events but sometimes when people don't we think there stubborn or just doesn't care. That's how Holden is, he doesn't have a lot of emotions on the outside but on the inside he does, he goes into detail about his feelings and thoughts torts them. Also Arnold laughed when his sister died and he handled that really weird and I think he laughed because he just didn't know how to handle it sort of in a way that Holden did when Allie his brother died.

Qualities of Holden
In chapter 8-11 we see Holden and all his feelings and personalities. Some were negative and some were positive, we see Holden be very flirtatious with Ernest's mom on the train but in his head he says that she wasn't too cute but her personality was good. This shows me Holden is somewhat a good person because although he judges from the outside he also takes into account her looks on the inside. Holden also talks a lot but during his conversations he lies and is sarcastic and it's misleading when he does that. And that is a negative trait of Holden another one is he has no plan I feel like. He wanders around the city and doesn't really care where he ends up, I also feel like he is very rude to people, when we read the book he compliments them but then we see him point out there flaws. Although Holden has some negative traits he still is smart and has a good memory like when he remembers the janitors name and the personality of Ernest, plus even though he says mean things he doesn't front he's truthful and you know what they say... the truth hurts. This is why I feel like, I like Holden because he is a real person.

Holden and Grief
With Holden and his death with his brother he doesn't handle it very well, he runs to the garage and bust out the windows because he feels empty and he almost doesn't know what to do in this situation, I could imagine losing someone like my brother and I feel I would of handled I t the same way. After reading chapter 5 you get to know who Holden is in another way, we see he's been been through struggles in his life and we feel bad for him. We almost use his bothers death as an excuse of why Holden is so mean. And this shows us that he is still dealing with his
brothers death, also we get a sense he still cares because he write about it in stradlaters composition. Things that stuck out to me in chapter five is how descriptive Holden is and how he remembers all these little detailed things about his brother. " I wrote about my brother Allies baseball mit, it was a very descriptive subject. It really was. My brother Allie had this left handed fielders mit. He was left handed. The thing that was descriptive about it, though, was that he had poems written all over the fingers and pockets and everywhere. In green ink." This quote gives us an idea of how much Allie meant to Holden and how much impact Allie had on Holden life till now. Grief comes across I think younger people more then adults, when I lost my great grandmother about 6 years ago I also remember thinking I accepted her passing away but I was always reminded when holidays or events came around and she wasn't there, it wasn't the same and a piece was missing and then I would get reminded that she's gone. I fell as if Holden is that way too. He uses his writing skills to almost bring Allie back to life in his writing.

Who is Holden Caulfield?
Holden is a mysterious character that you don't really know a lot about. He puts up a mask and has multiple personalities. Such as he's a rebel but also he notices the littles things and is nice for example he notices that Jane never moves her king when playing checkers. But his roommate is just there to "hook up" with girls. And this really gets on Holden's nerves. I like Holden though because he is a real person and says it how it is. But he says it in a way that you won't get hurt. I feel bad because he doesn't apply himself enough and he is seen as a rebel even though inside he is really smart. But it's like he won't do it if he's not interested. I can relate because at times I slack not because I don't know it or the teacher can't teach it, it's because I have no interest or it's to hard and I dont ask for help.
